Excavations have now reached the ground floor level and marked out. The marking out represents the basement, which will be excavated further. Those excavations will be used to both backfill the ecological walls and also used for rocks in the gabion walls.
The first ecological wall cells have now been installed in lowest point in the plot. You can see the way in which the cells are constructed, using reinforced steel sheets (bent into L-Shapes) and then backfilled with excavated earth and rocks. Each cell is 50cm high, with rock being compacted in layers.
